Let's talk about Château Siran, Margaux.

Let's talk about Château Siran, Margaux 2017.

It's both sumptuous and scrumptious! ❤️😋❤️

This was a birthday treat back in March, but we drank it at the weekend. And it didn't disappoint. All the things you'd expect from a rather special left bank Bordeaux!

It's 2017, and it packs a punch still in fruit, alongside it's decent alcohol levels (13.5%) and excellent acidity levels, this has probably got another 10 plus years of ageing.

This wine is a subtle blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, the expression of which reflects its terroir. I read somewhere that you only need 1% of petit verdot to bring out the spicy notes in the wine. This has only around 3%. But it really reinforces the unique character of this chateaux's wines. Also interesting for a left bank, is the slightly higher % of merlot to cabernet Sauvignon, which did, I must admit, confuse me as to what exactly I was drinking!!

This was a belter of a wine - and for me the tasting notes were:

👃smoke, blackcurrant (quite strong in fact!), floral notes (maybe violet or rose) and vanilla.
👅 Smacked with the most lucious blackcurrant, cherries, blackberries, vanilla, spice and some tertiary notes of earth and cedar.

It's complex, fruitful, aging well, yet delectably light for a Bordeaux. I thoroughly enjoyed this wine.
