Salvador Rappel Gewürztraminer 2023.

Salvador Rappel Gewürztraminer 2023, Wine Society Discovery Case (under £10), Chile 🇨🇱

(Another exceptionally priced good value wine from @thewinesociety1874 Discovery Case)

I don't tend to drink a lot of Gewürztraminer, but this was delicate, floral, aromatic and just lovely on its own enjoying the arts! We had this during the Edinburgh festival this August (2024).

👃 Rose petals 🌹pineapple, tropical and lycee (although I appear to suck at really discerning lycee on the nose!)

👅 Those floral notes continue on the palette and they are really beautiful in balance with the tropical flavours coming through too, and almost Chenin like honey 🍯 notes. This is off dry, and it's a bit confusing how sweet the wine actually is vs the ripe fruits flavours, as you've sweetness in those fruity flavours themselves!

However I'd say this isn't a dry wine either (probably off dry), and it didn't have bracing acidity nor high alcohol. It was med bodied and med levels of alcohol. And very easily drinkable!

Overall a great afternoon drink watching theatre. It's not going to knock your socks off, but it is a pleasant drink. I think it would be an excellent food pairing wine - which sadly I didn't get to enjoy it with. But perhaps some spicy food would be lovely! And I did have crispy spicy chicken later on which I thought this would have been perfect with!

Overall, it's a hell of a lot nicer than "by-the-glass" wines on offer at the Fringe. 🤗
