Pegões Colheita Seleccionada White 2021, Portugal

What an extraordinary wine - a full bodied white with a ton going on. Almost too much if I'm honest. However for the price (around £10 from @aitkenwines_1874), and all the wine intervention, time fermenting in oak, on the lees and some fairly technical winemaking taking place, it's incredible value!

It is a blend of Antão Vaz, Verdelho, Arinto and Chardonnay with 13.0% ABV.

It manages to be both fruity, spicy, refreshing, and acidic, yet has those quality secondary notes of biscuit, vanilla, butter and cream. The tropical fruits of pineapple 🍍 and the ripest of peaches 🍑. Possibly even toffee apple! There's a lot going on! And a long finish.

I definitely commend their ability to bring something to market with such complexity of flavours for a very reasonable price, but for me it lacks some sophistication and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the flavours. So in small doses, and perhaps paired with a rich dessert, this is a quality wine at a great price 😄🙌
